SUMMARY:KC - Senior Team Trials
DESCRIPTION:September 25/26\, 2021 - Karate Canada’s Senior Team Trials C
 algary\, Alberta\n\nInformation Bulletin\n\n\n\nDear Senior and U21 Nation
al Team Roster athletes\,\n\nWe hope this email finds you well. Please not
e the important information below:\n\n1- 2021-2022 SENIOR NATIONAL TEAM CR
ITERIA:\n\nFor your information\, please click on the link below for acce
ss to the new Senior National Team Criteria (for both kata and kumite mai
nstream athletes) for the 2021-2022 season (starting at the conclusion o
f the upcoming 2021 Senior National Team Trials\, scheduled to take place
in Calgary (AB) on September 25-26 - first information bulletin set for re
 lease next week):\n\nhttps://karatecanada.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/K
 C_Sr_NatTeamCriteria_2021-2022_Final_BOD_21July-2021_EN.pdf\n\nFor the mos
t part\, these new Criteria remain consistent with Criteria of the last co
uple of years. The most significant changes and some important elements to
consider are as follows:\n\n-The new (2021-2022) season will stretch\, fo
r the Senior National Team Roster\, from the conclusion of the 2021 Senior
National Team Trials (ending on September 26\, 2021) to the start of the
2022 National Championships (joint Junior &amp\; Senior event\, set to sta
rt on July 1st\, 2022)\;\n\n- As reflected in Section 6\, all medallists f
rom the 2021 Sr Team Trials will now automatically be named onto the Roste
r (selections for anyone not holding at least a National A status was prev
iously subject to discretionary Coach choices\, although in practice we di
d in fact invite all Senior medallists onto the Roster\, in the last few y
ears). Prioritization for selection to specific event teams has been furth
er clarified (in section 7)\, with regards to relative ranking point total
s of respective athletes holding identical status\;\n\n- The list of targe
ted (and KC ranking point-earning) events (which does not includes points
for results at the 2021 Senior Pan American Championships - see notes belo
 w) has been updated\; please note that athletes may now earn KC ranking po
ints for matches won (below a certain placement) at the 2021 Sr World and
2022 Sr Pan American Championships\, and that points at these events are s
ubjected to the ’Strength of Field' criterion (section 5.2)\;\n\n-Team s
election dates for the 2021 Sr Pan American and 2021 Sr World Championship
s is set for immediately after the conclusion of the September 2021 Senior
National Team Trials (invited athletes will be required to confirm partic
ipation promptly after conclusion of those Senior National Team Trials)\
;\n\n- Given ongoing COVID-related issues in South America and possible
health risks associated with participation in the 2021 Sr Pan American Ch
ampionships\, participation in that event will be optional and Karate Can
ada will\, exceptionally\, not award any ranking points for performance
at that event. Selection for the 2021 Sr World Championships team will be
based on athlete point rankings and status immediately after the conclu
sion of the September 2021 Senior National Team Trials event (the current
Senior rankings are available on our website)\;\n\n- The rules for automa
tic invitations to Senior national competitions (Appendix A) reflect the
changes announced back in December 2020 (for instance\, all age-eligi
ble medallists from the previous National Championships are now autom
atically invited\, instead of only the gold and silver medalists). Thes
e automatic invitation rules will apply to the 2021 Senior National Team
Trials event.\n\nWe highly recommend that you take the time to read throu
gh this important document and familiarize yourselves with its contents\,
as is the case each year.\n\nShould you have any questions\, please don’
t hesitate to contact our High Performance Director Mr. Kraig Devlin\, at:
   kraig.devlin@karatecanada.org.\n\n2- INFO MEETING:\n\nKarate Canada’s
