SUMMARY:KNS - 2023 Canada Games Selection Tournament
DESCRIPTION:Karate Nova Scotia will be hosting a Canada Games Selection at 
 the November 12th Grand Prix tournament. This selection will be used to s
 elect athletes for the 2023 Winter Canada Games being held in Summerside\,
  PEI from February 18th to 23rd\, 2023. To be eligible for selection athle
 tes must be a member of Karate Nova Scotia\, a minimum of 16 years old and
  a maximum of 17 years old as of March 1\, 2023. Their Date of birth is to
  be between March 2\, 2005 - March 1\, 2007.\n\nLocation: Bedford-Hammonds
  Plains Community Centre\, Bedford\, NS (Attached to Charles P. Allen High
  School)\n\nAthletes REGISTER HERE! Opens Oct 26th! Closes November 9th Mi
 dnight!\nNO Cost  NO Medals\, strictly for selection to team!\nAthletes c
 ompetition for selection are encourages to have a coach (dojo coach or pro
 vincial coach) with them for the selection event.\n\nThe Canada Games Divi
 sions are as follows:\n\n 	Female individual kata\n 	Male individual kata\
 n 	Female -53 kg individual kumite\n 	Female -59 kg individual kumite\n 	F
 emale +59 kg individual kumite\n 	Male -61 kg individual kumite\n 	Male -6
 8 individual kumite\n 	Male +68 individual kumite\n\nNova Scotia is allowe
 d to send a maximum of 9 athletes total: 4 males\, 4 females\, 1 extra ath
 lete (male or female). Our team is allowed a maximum of 5 athletes from th
 e same gender and all registered athletes must intend to compete in at lea
 st one event.\n\nNote: Each Province/Territory can enter one or two compet
 itor(s) per event providing that the maximum size of a team is no larger t
 han 9 athletes.\n\nThe selection criteria will be as follows:\n\nKumite:\n
 \nSelection tournament\n\n 	If there is only 1 athlete then automatic sele
 ction\n 	2 candidates - best 2 out of 3 (up to 3 matches)\n 	3 or more can
 didates - round robin competition.  WKF rules for tie breaker.\n 	Athlete
 s to be within 2Kg of their weight division at selection tournament. Athle
 tes will be weighed at the tournament. Failure to make weight will result 
 in the athlete being disqualified.\n\nKata:\n\nSelection tournament\n\n 	I
 f there is only 1 athlete then automatic selection\n 	2 kata's to be perfo
 rmed per athlete with aggregate score to be winner\n\nPlease note that tha
 t coaching staff can postpone the final selection of a division if a poten
 tial selectee is injured or sick at the selection event.\n\nSelect Event S

 s if available for each division.  They will be included in all the team 
 trainings and will be selected to compete at Canada Games in the event an 
 athletes is injured or pulls out for whatever reason.\n\nIf you are select
