Karate Nova Scotia is excited to host one of the best Canadian karate athletes who is competing right now. Hana Furumoto-Deshaies has been a Team Canada athlete since 2011 (12x national medalist). She brings with her a wealth of international experience:
- Three medals at the Senior Pan American Games (bronze in Curacao in 2022, silver in Costa Rica in 2023, gold in Uruguay in 2024)
- Two medals in Series A competitions, which is a major international competitions(bronze in Greece and gold in Vancouver in 2023)
- Her best international ranking was in the top 3 in the world & she is currently in the top 10
- Qualifications for the World Championships (in Hungary) and the Pan American Games (in Chile)
In addition to this, she studies sport psychology and is a Certified karate self-defense instructor by WKF
