We have a tournaments coming up in April, and we will need officials to ensure well run events! We cannot have a good competition without good officials so please come out and participate any way you can!!! Time to shake off the rust.
There will be 2 Officials clinics in March, to provide everyone with options. You are not required to attend both. One will be scheduled for Yarmouth area on March 13th and another one in Sackville area on March 19th. These are intended to be certification clinics and are open to KNS members who are min 14 years old and have attained the rank of Brown Belt or equivalent in their style. If you do not wish to receive certification you can attend, audit and learn, you would not gain certification.
We would like to invite and encourage anyone who is competing or is interested in such, to come out and take part in the practical session from 1:00-3:00. We need people to come in to spar and perform kata for the referees. If you are available to help with the pratical portion of the clinic please register below.
Open to: All KNS members, ages 14 and above, minimum rank of brown belt
Where: East Coast Wado Ryu, Springfield Lake Community Centre, Middle Sackville

- 10:45 – B R E A K
- 11:00 – Flag signals/Referee gestures
- 11:30 – Explain Hip rotation | Explain distance too close
- 12:00 – L U N C H B R E A K
- 1:00 – Practice with athletes | practical testing
- 2:15 – B R E A K
- 2:30 – Explain support | Explain Jogai
- 3:00 – Go over Kata Rules
- 3:30 – Candidates perform Kata | judging
- 4:00 – B R E A K (go over scores)
- 4:15 – Debrief
- 4:30 – END
Dress:
- Competitors should be in a gi
- Dress is casual if auditing the course
- Official Uniform for Kumite Practical Test for anyone looking for certification, new or upgrade.
- Gi required to perform Kata practical Test for anyone looking for certification, new or upgrade.
Candidates will receive a conditional license which requires ratification at April 2nd KNS provincial tournament. This will allow the officials committee time to go over the scores, including the written exams and not take up clinic time or be rushed into making decisions.
Covid Guidelines: Please ensure to follow current Provincial Covid-19 guidelines and practice proper social distancing.
