A great opportunity put on by the Commonwealth Karate Federation, open to our members.

For those of you new to the VKO, its aim is to provide world-class coaching for kumite, refereeing, kata and sports science to all Commonwealth countries at zero cost.

Session 1 – Sleep & Rest Management

We are delighted to have Dr Andrew Morley present the opening session on Sleep and Rest Management. Dr Morley is the Lead Sleep Physiologist at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children, Glasgow and is currently a member of the British Sleep Society executive committee. He brings a wealth of experience and we are  privileged to have him share his expertise with us.

This session will help attendees understand the impact sleeping has on performance and the reasons for poor sleeping. It will also offer a range of clear, practical tips and techniques to improve sleeping and resting. With the COVID pandemic disrupting many aspects of all our lives, we need to maximise the benefit sleep and rest gives – both physically and mentally – to help all of us through these challenging times.

This session is not aimed just at elite athletes and coaches. The Sleep & Rest Management session will have benefits for all male and female karateka in their sport endeavours and their wider lives – from young, white belts at grass-root level, all the way up to world-class athletes and coaches.

The skills they learn here can be passed onto friends and family adding to the broader benefit to their societies.
